Pleased to tell you about another locally created hardware project. This time we’re talking about an add-on for your car called Mavia which comes to us from a Louisville company called Mavizon. In essence it’s a dongle that plugs into your car that sends you, via a My Mavia account or an iOS app, all sorts of interesting data about your car. Some examples of the kind of data you can get:
- “Interactive analytic charts showing your car’s MPG performance, miles driven over time, and fuel consumption”
- Read the “check engine light” code with the Mavia app or online account
- “Set up invisible boundaries around town and be alerted when a car you manage drives through one. Get a text message when your spouse on on the way home from work, when your teen arrives at school”
And here’s a real world example of putting that data to good use.
Pretty cool right? They already have working prototypes and have been testing the product with some real world users. Now they’re ready to go into their first round of manufacturing. To fund the manufacture they’re offering Mavias (is that the correct plural?) for pre-sale.
By pre-purchasing Mavia now, not only will you be one of the very first to experience this new technology, but you will also help to support a start up company through their first manufacturing push. Basically, you are staking claim on one of a limited few Mavia units. Keep in mind, that due to the nature of a pre-sale there will be some time between placing your order and when it arrives at your doorstep later this fall.
